Welcome to the world of books!

SSS members have access to thousands of books through various sources. Books may be borrowed by visiting CAJ or by requesting materials and having them mailed to you. We mail out books on Fridays during the school year.

To request books, please go to
How To Check Out Books and download the book request form.

CAJ Library

If you want to check out particular titles of books, the CAJ library is the place to go. The CAJ library has over 20,000 materials available for check out.

SSS Book Packs
Book Packs feature small collections of books that are borrowed as a pack rather than individually. Perhaps your youngster is totally crazy about Clifford the Big Red Dog. You could borrow a stack of books by Norman Bridwell all at once without bothering to look for individual titles. Maybe your son is on a Hardy Boys kick. Just check out the Hardy Boys Pack to keep him engaged reading.

Curriculum
We have books and teacher guides from Five in a Row, Jay Wile Exploring Creation, Math Teaching Textbooks, Story of the World, and various other series.

Maybe you want to use Sonlight curriculum but the cost is a bit daunting and you don’t know where you would put all the books if you had them. You may borrow many of the books by core and trimester. Since we rely heavily on book donations we don’t have all the books, but we do have a good number of them.

It is possible to only check out certain books from a category if you don’t want all the books listed in the drop-down list.

Leveled Library
If you’re looking for books on your child’s specific reading level, this is a place to go.

Books for Parents
SSS has some books for parents that are not available in the CAJ library. If you have interest in a particular topic, please let us know. These books may be borrowed individually and are not sent in packs so please let us know which books you want rather than asking for a particular category.
Parent Books are divided into the following categories:
• Book lists
• Careers/College
• Curriculum
• Family Activities
• Homeschool/Education
• Miscellaneous (i.e. time management)
• Parenting
• Preschool
• Sensitive Issues (sex, death, children in pain, etc.)
• Third Culture Kids (kids who live in more than one culture)

SSS Unit Boxes
If you’re looking for books on a particular topic, check out our unit boxes at the tab on the right. This is a growing section in our library. Each title such as Human Body can be clicked on for a dropdown listing of what is in the box. It is possible to only check out certain items from a unit box if you don’t want the whole box.

Online Books
Tumblebooks is a site where your child can listen to talking books. SSS members are given the password when you sign up for SSS membership. A sampling of their collection is available on their website if you would like to see how it works.
Raz Kids is a website that offers fiction and non-fiction books at particular reading levels. Students complete comprehension quizzes and advance through the levels as they read and learn. Sign up your child by contacting the SSS office to receive your child’s personal password.
